Reiji Azuma [Episode...]
Reiji Azuma (Zwei) is the title character of the story, Zwei was a perfectly ordinary tourist from Japan, before witnessing an Inferno assassination in America and being kidnapped. He was able to elude his pursuers long enough for them to realize he had a natural survival instinct that was perfect for an assassin. He had his memory erased through a combination of drugs and hypnotherapy, and thus became the second generation Phantom. The name Zwei is simply a code name to show he is the second experimental assassin created by Scythe Master. Through Claudia, one of the three top executives of Inferno, Zwei is able to learn his true identity as Reiji Azuma. When he returns to Japan, he goes back to using this name. When his killing intent shows, in the anime, his eyes turn green with orange in the center.
Reiji has short light brown hair. He also has brown eyes, which like with Eren go a different color when in "Phantom Mode." His eyes go green. He has no particular marks on his body that distinguish him. Throughout the series, his hair length changes and grows a lot longer than it is in the picture above.
In the first Arc, he tends to wear his training outfit or his black shirt and khaki pants. When he is on missions he wears a black jumpsuit, similar to Eren's. In the second Arc he's completely different. He now has longer hair and is always seen wearing a black suit with a pink shirt and a necklace. This is now because he is being payed by Inferno. He changes again in the third Arc, were we can now see him wearing a school uniform.
Reiji started out as a considerably normal boy. When he was first trained by inferno, it was seen he was kind and compassionate. Zwei however adapts the some of Ein's personality features as the he was trained turning him into a very laconic person. However he still contains his love for other people and interaction, but avoids it in order to save others for fear of involving them in his mess. Reiji is a very logical and careful person thinking every decision he makes through. Reiji gains all his power from fighting for a cause even if it is just survial. Sythe notes him his greatest Phantom while also commenting that he is an example that the hero factor is not just a mythe. But although his emotions and desires give him his strength they will also take it away. Seen through out the series like in the second arc where he falls for Scythe Master's trap due to his mind being on Cal, and again it is also seen with the third arc when Drei is tormenting him. He is what he makes himself out to be; that could be the mastermind within Inferno or the obedient pawnn of Claudia McCunnen.
